He loves like a hurricane

He loves like a hurricane

... my whole world had been changed! Caleb Lee Porter arrived, quickly ushering in a great weight of responsibility over this little life that had been given to us. That weight hasn't shifted much, but we have enjoyed every day of these 5 months! Caleb is such a happy boy, generally content most of the time to sit or lay and play or watch Wheel of Fortune with mommy and daddy. He gets fussy when he is hungry or sleepy (and generally I know when to expect him to be tired so it doesn't get to the fussy stage). He is on a really great schedule, which has really just come into play over the last two weeks. He wakes up around 8, feeds, plays, naps from 10-11, feeds, plays, feed again at 1:30-2 and naps for 2-3 hours, feeds, plays, naps another 30-45 minutes around 6:30, feeds/has a solid meal, plays, and then we do bedtime around 8:30- so I feed him again right before laying him down. He will generally only wake once to feed now at 3:30, but that isn't always the case! It's nice to have a fairly predictable baby. Now if he needs to #2 this can all be thrown off!

His favorite things now include Leo (reaches for both of them and smiles real big), this music playing stuffed puppy, singing "A sailor went to sea sea sea...," chewing on everything- from kitchen spatulas to his teething toys, daddy making silly noises at him, blowing raspberries on his tummy or neck, sitting in his bumbo on the counter while I am cooking, eating cereal or watching people eat food (reaches for food and/or whatever tou are eating it with), and looking at himself in the mirror or on my phone via reverse camera, or really watching videos of himself- a little vain ;)

His least favorite things right now include a dirty diaper (has started fussing immediately after #2 happens), water running over his face (so that's the last thing I do at bath time is wash his face!), and being laid down when he really doesn't want to (this cry is immediate and priceless, but also hard to predict). There really isn't much that he gets upset about!

He's not reached any major developmental milestones lately- so close to rolling over back to tummy, knows where his feet are but doesn't care too much about it, loves to stand and can hold his own weight very well, and can sit on his own well (with boppy support) but gets tired quickly and plunges forward. He only will laugh a little, maybe once or twice and then he's done- but his big grins and smiles let us know he is a happy boy! He doesn't have one particular spot that is most ticklish, either. Not that he's revealing just yet at least! And no teeth, just lots of drool and chewing. He has gone back to trading his paci for his fingers again, he had stopped but is back to it!

I love you baby boy! I can hardly believe you are 5 months old, when it seems it wasn't that long ago we brought you home from the hospital. Can't wait to see how you've grown and changed in another month!
